Smoothilisciousness!

February 21, 2014

Posting some delicious smoothie combos for your blending pleasure! :D

I just want to point out that FRESH is ALWAYS best!! RIPE is ESSENTIAL in eating raw fruits!! You HAVE to learn when fruit is ripe!! Bananas (Naner's as I like to call them..) are ripe when they have spots! Sugar spots!! The more the sweeter and for making smoothies Naner's are the creamy BASE. So ripen those babies up before you eat 'em!! They should smell SWEET not like STARCH.

One of these (or one comparable like the Vitmix) are most desirable for powerful blending:

PINEAPPLE WHIP:

6 Oranges

Frozen (or fresh of course) Pineapple (Costco) to your liking. Blend her up!

BAM!! Can you say, "Better than soft serve sorbet??" Oh yeah!!!!

BERRY NICE:

2 c. Pure Water, 7 RIPE Bananas, 3-4 c. Organic Baby Kale (Costco) & 3-4 c. Organic Triple Berry (Blackberry, Strawberry, Blueberry) Blend (Costco)

Green Smoothies are a FABULOUS way to get those green in! I try to eat at least A HEAD (1 lb.) of ORGANIC green lettuces (romaine, spinach, kale, etc.) in a day!! Yup. You need that much or more if you are an athlete. Eat a bunch in a smoothie and then have a salad at dinner everyday & you should be good! :)

MANGOLISCIOUS:

2 c. Pure water
6-7 (or more! This ain't rocket science! Add to your hearts content!) RIPE Naner's
3-4 c. (Just fill that baby up!) of mangos

Tons of Organic Spinach (Costco)
like 3-4 c.

2 T. ground organic flax (Costco) for Omega 3's.
Watch this vid to see why Flax is importante for Vegans: http://youtu.be/q7KeRwdIH04

And that's how I roll...

JUST FRUIT:

This is only Cantaloupe:

Just Nana's & Kale:

THE CHERRY BOMB!!: (My FAVE!)

Fresh organic spinach from my garden:

Add Naner's:

Man these frozen Organic Cherries (from Costco) are the BOMB!!!

Incredibly delicious!!!

Smoothies can be ANYTHING you want them to be! Have fun creating your favorites! Slurp up!!

Vegan Tostadas!

FEBRUARY 19, 2014

Hi Guys!

I'm baaaack!!

I'm doing RAW-SOME!! 😀

So...I have been helping a LOT of people eat healthier and have had many requests to share/blog what I make for my low fat vegan Familia!

So this is my FIRST recipe I am going to share with the world! 😀

If you're like most Americans you LOVE Mexican food but not the often unhealthy ingredients found in them in conventional venues...so there no place like HOME to eat the best meals on the planet!!

Tonight they're eating TOSTADAS!!

The first thing I make is the
QUINOA BLACK BEAN & CORN

In a medium pan sauté in about 1/2-1 c. of water until translucent:
1 onion
3 cloves of garlic
Then add:
1 c. Uncooked quinoa
2 c. Water mixed with Gayelord Hausers's Vegetable Broth
1 t. Ground Cumin
Cayenne Pepper, Salt & Pepper (optional & to taste)

Bring to a boil then turn down & simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Then add:
1/2 c. Chopped fresh organic cilantro
1 package of frozen organic corn

1 can drained & rinsed organic black beans

Mix. Cover. Remove from heat until ready to eat.

While this is simmering for those 20 minutes I start to toast the Sprouted Corn Tortillas on the griddle until desired firmness.

While that's toasting I start
on the

GUACAMOLE

3 Avocados, mashed
 Handful of cilantro, chopped
2 green onions, chopped
1/2 jalapeño, diced
fresh squeezed lime
sea salt (optional) to taste

Then the PICO DE GALLO
7 Organic tomatoes
1/2 red onion, chopped
Handful of cilantro, chopped
1/4 of a jalapeño, diced
fresh squeezed lime
sea salt (optional)

I like to make the beans from scratch but when I haven't made the time I will use canned..but FRESH is ALWAYS best!

Buffet style!

Happy children...

Happy husband...

And Happy Mom mixed up the cabbage, guac & pico for my meal! ❤️

😃 Knowing that what I am making for them is nourishing them with goodness and much-betterness!

Hope you enjoy this as much as we do
& that you will share this blog & these meals with your family & friends!

They are made with ❤️LOVE❤️ which is always the #1 ingredient!

Do EVERYTHING with ❤️!

XOXO,

❤️RMM

Scripture References for My Diet

Genesis. 1: 29 "And God said, Behold, I have given you every HERB bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the FRUIT of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."

The word "MEAT" in the scriptures means "FOOD".

 D&C 88:

10 "I say unto you, all wholesome HERBS God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man."

The word "HERB" in the scriptures means "PLANT".

The definition of "CONSTITUTION": The composition or structure of something; The physical makeup of a person.

The definition of "NATURE": The processes and functions of the body.

11 "Every HERB in the season thereof, and every FRUIT in the season thereof; all these to be used with prudence and thanksgiving."

The definition of "PRUDENCE": The ability to govern and discipline oneself by the use of reason.

16 "the FRUIT of the vine; that which yieldeth FRUIT, whether in the ground or above the ground."

There are scriptures that refer to the eating of flesh. But I like to follow this one sentence in The Word of Wisdom for the clearly stated reason: D&C 89:13 "..it is pleasing unto me that they should NOT BE USED."

There are also scriptures which mention the eating of grains. Of course ancient grains where different than today's grains. They were ground raw, unleavened, & cooked by the heat of the sun. The grains of today make me feel bad & make me gain weight.

The milk of animals was used, but I believe only on occasion, fresh, raw & by healthy, free animals. Science today shows why it's best to avoid & it makes me ill, have acne, urinary tract infections, and get fat & puffy. Plus my common sense screams to me that it is for the animals babies & not for me.

So what to eat? LOTS & LOTS of yummy food made by God! :)

EAT IN ABUNDANCE Whole, fresh, ripe, raw, organic, local (when possible), in season :

 FRUITS (anything with a seed)
TENDER YOUNG GREENS
HERBS
VEGETABLES
ROOTS
NUTS &SEEDS, AVOCADO, COCONUT FLESH, OLIVES (or FATS); eat very limited or within 10% of total calories

 AVOID OR DO NOT EAT:

ANIMAL CARCASS "meat"
ANIMAL EXCRETIONS "milk products & eggs"
BIRD FOOD "grains"
BEANS & LEGUMES
OILS
SALTS
YEAST
VINEGARS
FERMENTED, DRIED, COOKED, or CANNED foods.
DEHYDRATED or LIGHTLY STEAMED foods are ok when nothing else is available or in transition when craving other cooked foods.

Lately if I'm having cravings or don't have anything else I like to steam organic potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, & broccoli with some fresh herbs like dill & parsley or dried herbs like paprika, or an organic salt free mix from Costco I like.

Eat for HEALTH! Eat for BEAUTY! Eat for ENERGY! Eat for PLEASURE! Eat for LIFE!

Benefits of a Fruit & Veggie Diet

#1 Benefit of eating a fruit & veggie diet is how you FEEL! Can you say ENERGY? Health. Vitality. Strength. No discomfort of the body at all. Sleep like a baby. Wake up ready to GO!

#2. Benefit of eating a fruit & veggies diet is how FAST & EASY it is. No time needed cooking, baking, frying & preparing. Just wash and eat!

#3. Benefit of eating a fruit & veggie diet is how you LOOK! Your skin! Your eyes! You lose the excess fat & water weight from eating salt & fat.

#4. Benefit of eating a fruit & veggies diet is how you SMELL! Lets just say that there are no foul odors coming from anywhere. Not to mention your sense of smell & taste are at their highest! All of your senses are heightened!

#5. Benefit of eating a fruit & veggie diet is how it effects your MOOD. You feel HAPPY & positive all the time. Say buh-bye to sadness & depression. I especially love how much more spiritual and in tune with the Spirit I feel.

This diet healed my deemed 'incureable' disease by the medical establishment & in so doing I know it can create health in anyone's body & I have met many people who have experienced the same.

This is why I am so PASSIONATE about sharing about it with others!

Try it! See for yourself!

The Rules:
Eat ALL YOU CARE FOR of WHOLE, FRESH, RIPE, RAW, IN SEASON, as local as possible, ORGANIC fruits & vegetables.

Go fruit yourself!!!!!

I think I really want this now..

Dear Whoever Is Reading This,

Here I lay. *cough attack* Sick in bed. *cough attack* Day 9.
There's nothing like pain & suffering to bring you to the depths of humility. No greater teacher.. What happened? Well....before I get into that, I want to give myself credit:

I have come a looooooong way! I have made HUGE changes and have improved in SO many ways! Dietary changes are difficult to make when you have been accustomed to certain things, traditions & habits your entire life! So to be at the point I am now is immense! Problem is...the cleaner your body gets...the less is tolerates little "indiscretions"....So...yup! That brings me back to why I'm lying on my back...

My son graduated from High School (party/go out to eat), from Seminary (party/go out to eat), became an  Elder (party/go out to eat), got a mission call (party/go out to eat) etc. etc. etc. Friends have Birthdays and you go out to eat. Friends ask you to go out to eat. Date night. You go out to eat. Boredom. Habit. Now you're addicted. You go out to eat. Then WHAMMO!!!!! Here I lie...

I DON'T LIKE THIS! NOT ONE BIT! I NEVER WANT TO BE SICK AGAIN!

*sigh*

How sick have I been? Here's the order of symptoms:
Fatigue
Achy
Fever
Headache from hell
Skin pain from hell
For 5 days then...
Major cough
Day 6 so far..
9 days lying here...

Of course since day 1 I've been 100% raw and drinking tons of water & getting fresh air and sunshine (ok not enough cuz I don't want to annoy my neighbors with my coughing).

I can tell by my tongue and BM's how we'll I'm detoxing. It never fails that after about day 5 of 100% raw the "stuff" that comes out of you is...well...unique. :) Boy do notice the difference in your gut! Clean, unclogged & empty! Can you say, "flat stomach"? Yeah it's pretty awesome and reminds me how wonderful it is to be 100% raw. There's just nothing like it.

So...once again....I'm convinced, even more so, of how important it is to eat 100% so that you never get sick like this. How its just NOT WORTH the supposed "fun" of going out to eat or "partying" on foods that are not good for the body.

If I can just remember this when I'm feeling great, hungry & tempted to "join the "fun"". If I can just remember how awful it is to be sick. If I can just remember how great I feel, look, think when I choose fruits & veggies over Thai, Indian or Japanese food then I think I can do this. No...I know I can.
